It will be difficult for the Al-Qaeda terrorist group to elect a new leader after the death of Ayman al-Zawahiri, according to The Australian Strategic Policy Institute’s Michael Shoebridge.
“They can’t have big meetings … it’s going to have be clandestine couriers between people that are operating in fear of their life, including in Afghanistan,” he told Sky News Australia.
“It makes it harder for them to elect and choose a leader and it makes it harder for any new leader to operate.”
