Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed all the state and territory leaders will attend the Jobs and Skills Summit next week despite NSW Treasurer Matt Kean's criticism of the conference.

The summit will bring together unions, businesses, government and industry for two days to address the economic challenges and skills shortages sweeping Australia.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022 > “You are not going to have a summit on Thursday and Friday and wake up on Saturday and there are no skills shortages,” he said on Monday. Mr Albanese also took a swipe at the former government saying the labour shortage could not only be put down to the pandemic but was a result of the Coalition falling"asleep at the wheel” while in power.

“But it also plans and that is what Jobs and Skills Australia is about, planning for the future, making sure that we get those training opportunities available because it takes one or two or three or four years in order to train people.”
