New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins will travel across the ditch next week for his first international visit since taking over from Jacinda Ardern.
Mr Hipkins was sworn in as the country's 41st Prime Minister in Wellington last weekIn a statement on Tuesday the 44-year-old confirmed his first international trip as leader will be across the ditch on February 7.

Picture: Getty Shortly after Mr Hipkins was named as Ms Ardern’s successor, Mr Albanese reached out to offer his congratulations. “A warm discussion this morning with incoming NZ Labour Leader Chris Hipkins. I congratulate him and look forward to working with him as Prime Minister,” Mr Albanese tweeted.
"This summer I had hoped to find a way to prepare for not just another year but another term because that is what this year requires. I have not been able to do that.
