Former Prime Minister Scott Morrison is at the center of a fresh probe, after it was revealed he secretly took control of three portfolios during the height of the pandemic. ElizaEdNews 9News READ MORE:
It comes as Australia's Governor-General David Hurley confirmed he had appointed Morrison to "administer portfolios other than the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet".
"What they didn't know was that Scott Morrison was running a shadow government, a shadow government that was operating in the shadows." Former prime minister Malcolm Turnbull, who was replaced by Morrison in 2018, said tonight the incident was "one of the most appalling things I have ever heard in our federal government".that "the idea that a prime minister would be sworn in to other ministries, secretly, is incredible. I'm astonished that Morrison thought he could do it."
"And he's explained his position, his understanding of the law and constitution, and I have no doubt that he has acted entirely appropriately." "It is not uncommon for ministers to be appointed to administer departments other than their portfolio responsibility," Hurley said.
