Health Minister Mark Butler has accepted ATAGI’s recommendations to expand access of the fourth COVID-19 dose to a much larger group of the Australian population.

Australia’s Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation has recommended all Australians aged 50 or over take a fourth COVID-19 vaccine dose.

“ATAGI also recommended that for Australians aged between 30 and 49 who feel that they want to take a fourth dose, that that will be available to them but will be an individual decision – it is not a specific recommendation of ATAGI,” Mr Butler said during a media conference on Thursday. “And the third element of the advice I have accepted today is that the interval between doses of vaccine, or interval between having been infected with COVID to getting your next dose of vaccine, has been narrowed from four months, down to three months.”
