Star Perth mare Amelia's Jewel has become the $4 favourite for the Golden Eagle after drawing a perfect gate, but Hawaii Five Oh could challenge her as favourite with a direct inside draw.
Star Perth mare Amelia’s Jewel has firmed into $4 favouritism after drawing perfectly for Saturday’s $10 million Golden Eagle , but TAB’s Tim Ryan believes Hawaii Five Oh could challenge her as favourite after drawing to her direct inside at Tuesday night’s barrier draw .
“This is the first time she has had a decent draw in her life,” Walsh said. “She had a bug before the Toorak and was off her feed for a couple of days after it, but she has recovered from it now. She worked the best she’s ever worked this morning in Melbourne on her Sydney leg.” Hawaii Five Oh is in gate four to give jockey Nash Rawiller the option of controlling the race from the lead.“Hawaii Five Oh has some great options from that gate,” Bott said. “He is looking for that additional distance at this point of his preparation. He has great tactical speed and from the good draw he could lob outside the leader. He is in great shape.”
“It meant we missed the big mile he was perfectly set up for . We nearly won it anyway with Golden Mile . But he has bounced back, and it’s not a bad race to have to fall back on.” “He missed the run and a day or two of work but showed he was still in peak form in the Silver Eagle,” Cummings said. “This race was always there for him but I would like to be going into it off the Epsom as we planned.
