The ship, which was attacked by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea, has been on fire for a week as officials try to recover the tanker and avoid an environmental disaster.
The MV Sounion was attacked last week by Houthi militants, with satellite images showing fires and some oil spilling.
Nearly an hour later, the ship was hit with another projectile, which started a fire and cut the engine. "I think there were six yesterday. There's now 15 from the latest satellite pass today there's a four-kilometre oil slick on the surface, behind the vessel," said Martin Kelly, Head of Advisory at Eos Risk Group, who served 17 years in the British Royal Navy.Greece, in a letter to the United Nations shipping agency, said an oil spill had been detected by a satellite.
