Regional Victorians could be dining at restaurants and pubs this week as Premier Daniel Andrews flags a further easing of restrictions. The next stage out of lockdown would allow home visits and outdoor gatherings of up to 10 people.

Attendee limits at weddings and funerals would increase back to 20. Regional restrictions were eased yesterday allowing people to socialise in groups of five outdoors. Mr Andrews is expected to lift some lockdown rules today if case numbers remain low. Image: News Corp Australia

‘Traumatised’ son tells of the ‘lack of compassion’ in Victoria’s funeral restrictions | Sky News Australia‘Traumatised’ son tells of the ‘lack of compassion’ in Victoria’s funeral restrictions | Sky News AustraliaFather and son David and Danny Ross have told Sky News of the “trauma” experienced through their wife and mother’s funeral service under the incompassionate restrictions surrounding the ceremony.\n\nUnder Victoria’s harsh lockdown restrictions, only ten people are allowed to attend a funeral service, no matter the size of the venue, whilst attendees are forced to social distance.\n\nDanny Ross spoke to Sky News host Andrew Bolt about the effect the restrictions had on his mother.\n\n“She felt that she was trapped in her own home, in the end it got to her,” he said.\n\nHe said he knew the service would be tough but not as tough as it was when he was actually inside the church.\n\n“I was just sitting on my own in the service, thinking to myself, this is just crazy,” he said.\n\n“There’s my dad over there crying, and my sisters or myself couldn’t go over there and comfort him in his time of need, it was ridiculous.\n\n“When it comes to funerals, there was a trauma in the actual church itself. I was going through a trauma in the church in the service.\n\n“I wasn’t even thinking about the service, I was just thinking how pathetic this was.\n\n“For our family’s mental health and trauma through that, you can’t tell me there’s any compassion from the government when it comes to funerals.”\n\nAnyone who may be feeling distressed can contact the following organisations for support.\n\nSANE Helpline 1800 18 72 63\n\nLifeline 131 114\n\nBeyond blue 1300 22 4636
