Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has brushed aside the latest poll results showing his personal popularity has nosedived.

A Resolve Political Monitor survey published in The Age on Thursday showed more people now see Mr Andrews in a negative light than view him positively.

"I just make the point – we have one poll every four years that matters and that's the only one I'm here to comment on," he said. "The next one of those is due in November 2026 and in the meantime we'll do what we've always done, we'll do the right thing, not chase the popular thing and we'll get on and do what matters.

The Labor leader is ahead 44 per cent to 29 per cent but his lead has been cut eight percentage points compared to the 49 per cent to 26 per cent result recorded in June. "When I think about tough days and tough weeks, I think about people who can't find a house, I think about people who can't find a bulk billing doctor, I think about people who need support in lots of different ways," he said.
