Shadow Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews has warned Prime Minister Anthony Albanese could lose the Australian public if he continues to pursue the inquiry into Scott Morrison's five secret ministries.

Mr Albanese announced on Tuesday Cabinet had determined there was a need for a “further inquiry” into Mr Morrison's secret appointment to five ministerial portfolios.

Mr Morrison has argued that he made the appointments during “extraordinary times and that it was necessary to have “what were effectively emergency powers to exercise in extreme situations”.
