A dingo has bitten a female tourist on the leg on the popular Queensland island of K’gari.

Female tourist bitten on leg by dingo near unfenced beach camping area on K’gari in second attack this month

It is understood the woman was heading to the toilets by herself when the dingo approached her and latched on to her leg, resulting in two puncture wounds, according to The Courier Mail.Visitors camping nearby reportedly heard the commotion and came to her rescue, chasing the animal away. “The risk of dangerous behaviour is greatly increased in dingoes that have become familiar and habituated to humans through feeding or other encouragement,” the website explained.

It is also advised to avoid running away from a dingo as they can trigger a “negative dingo interaction,” according to the department.
