Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and WA Premier Mark McGowan will visit Fitzroy Crossing and communities impacted by record flooding in the state's Kimberley region.

The town has also become a refuge for people from surrounding communities who fled as floodwaters rose to record levels.

Mr Albanese and Mr McGowan are due to visit the evacuation centre in the town and tour damaged areas. They will meet locals and evacuees from surrounding communities, who are expected to tell them their stories of survival and ongoing concerns.The leaders will return to Broome, where they are set to meet volunteers and frontline emergency service workers who have been the linchpin of the evacuation and resupply operation and thank them for their ongoing efforts.Flooding has cut off communities and displaced hundreds in the Kimberley.

"The unprecedented nature of the floods in the region has also made it extremely challenging for the rescue, relocation and resupply logistics and operations.In Broome on Sunday, 580 kilograms of frozen food was packed into an aircraft bound for Fitzroy Crossing. People across the Kimberley will be eligible for Disaster Recovery Funding, jointly funded by the Commonwealth and state, which will provide urgent assistance to disaster-affected communities.
