Prime minister issues statement saying ‘all travel has been appropriately declared’ after allegations made in new book over politicians’ travel

Prime minister Anthony Albanese has said all his travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.Prime minister Anthony Albanese has said all his travel has been appropriately declared and is a matter of public record.Anthony Albanese has denied ever calling Alan Joyce for free Qantas flight upgrades during his time as transport minister and opposition leader.

Aston alleged Albanese had received more than 20 upgrades between 2009 and 2019. Some flights were declared as “personally funded” and included Rome, London, Los Angeles and Honolulu as destinations.“It would be a safe presumption that paid for an economy ticket in the full knowledge he would never have to set foot in that unholy cabin.”

Albanese admitted he had spoken to Joyce about two flights in person – one to Perth and another in March 2013, when he flew with Joyce on Qantas’s first flight to Dubai.“Of the 22 flights, 10 of them were during the leadership ballot between myself and Bill Shorten in 2013 over a one month period where both Qantas and Virgin provided upgrades for flights that were paid for by the Australian Labor Party to make sure that there wasn’t any cost to taxpayers for what was internal business.
