The British and Irish Lions are scheduled to take on an Anzac XV in Adelaide as part of a nine-game tour of Australia in 2025, in which Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney will host Test matches.

Two years out from the opening Test at Suncorp Stadium, the fixture list for the 2025 Lions tour was announced in Brisbane on Wednesday. The Lions are a famous touring team, combining the best of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales on tours of Australia, New Zealand and South Africa on rotation, every four years.as reported in April

Previous Lions tours of Australia have included one-sided games against NSW and Queensland Country sides – or a combined side, as was the case in 2013 – but there is no similar fixture in 2025.But as was the case in the final game of the 1989 Lions tour, the upcoming series will include a revival of an Anzac invitational XV, at Adelaide Oval.Advertisement

“The British & Irish Lions Tour is one of the great sporting festivals – it is a real landmark of Australian and world sport,” Rugby Australia chief executive Phil Waugh said in a release.
