Armed thieves have targeted five businesses in Melbourne ’s southeast, allegedly stealing thousands of dollars in cash and exotic spices. The masked men were armed with a sledge hammer and were seen on security footage smashing their way into Cafe Rubix in Box Hill at 3am on Sunday. Then, there were similar scenes as the group moved on to a restaurant on the Burwood Hwy and were seen on CCTV smashing in and stealing cash from the registers. There were two offenders who broke into the five businesses, while another waited in the getaway car, which was a Toyota Hilux allegedly stolen from outside a gym in Berwick on Friday. After the 40 minutes crime spree on Sunday morning, the police Air Wing spotted the car travelling south on the Eastlink.
