Alex de Minaur spoke with Channel Nine’s Jim Courier after his win tonight:
Pablo is always a veteran and always tough? Pretty exciting to play here at Rod Laver Arena at 7pm in front of the great Rod Laver himself. So it’s a pretty amazing feeling and I got the win, what more can I ask for?Well, it’s definitely not Sydney yet. I think I have to get a couple more wins on this court but I love playing here, I mean the atmosphere is terrific. There is no place I’d rather be. I’m in my home slam doing what I love. I’m living the dream. That is my golden retriever Enzo.
109 is my Davis Cup number. So I’m the 109th Australian to be able to represent Australia in the Davis Cup. That is an honour I’m proud of and I’ve dreamt of it since I was a kid. Thank you to Lleyton Hewitt, he got me under the Davis Cup umbrella. I was able to make my debut. It’s my favourite time of the year the Davis Cup.
I’m definitely going to go into the match with that attitude and I expect a lot of fire from Jannik Sinner. I’m looking forward to another opportunity coming out in front of you guys and doing what I love to do. I’m looking forward to it.Alex de Minaur is into the fourth round at the Australian Open after a straight sets win over Spain’s Pablo Andujar at Rod Laver Arena.
