Sydney is in for a week of wild weather with high temperatures and very high fire danger across most of the east coast on Tuesday, before rain settles in.

A cool change will hit Sydney overnight, bringing temperatures for the rest of the week down the mid-20s.The weather is likely to become "quite eventful", with "the potential for severe thunderstorms" from Thursday onwards said the Bureau of Meteorology's Zhi-Weng Chua. The rain is unlikely to be the early autumn break many farmers are hoping for. The lack of drought-breaking rains in eastern NSW continues to take its toll, a 2019 Rabobank Rural Confidence Survey found.
