UPDATE: Residents in Victoria, the ACT, rural NSW and metropolitan Sydney have been warned of declining air quality as strong winds are expected to bring dust storms.
The State Emergency Service has warned residents to move their cars under cover and away from trees and to stay indoors and away from fallen powerlines or objects that could be energised.

The dust storm has already blanketed Melton, with residents taking to social media to share eerie photos of the suburb blanketed by a reddish haze.The red dust blanketed Melton, a suburb about 35 kms from the Melbourne CBD.A dust storm is expected to bring hazardous air quality to the southwest slopes including Albury and Wagga Wagga, with very poor air quality expected across the Centre Tablelands im Bathurst and Orange.
