Australian shares are poised to fall. US equities mostly recovered from an opening Ukraine-Russia war swoon, with Nvidia helping to pace the Nasdaq higher. Bitcoin briefly topped $US94,000. Shares in Nvidia were more than 4 per cent higher late in New York, helping it regain the title as the world’s most valuable publicly traded company a day before its set to release its latest quarterly results.
” Walmart helped too as its stock surged to a record after the retailer reported better-than-expected results and it revised its guidance higher, pointing to an increasing number of affluent Americans shopping in-store and online. Walmart was 3.5 per cent higher. Worries about an escalation in fighting between Russia and Ukraine washed through markets overnight. The pan-European STOXX 600 closed 0.
