BREAKING: Mike Cannon-Brookes’ Grok wins four seats on AGL’s board; ASX opens lower as US stocks close lower in late sell-off; CBA’s profit rises 2 per cent to $2.5 billion. Follow updates here:
AGL shareholders have defied the board, led by Patricia McKenzie, by voting up all of Mike Cannon Brookes’ proposed director nominees, according to proxy investor votes registered ahead of Tuesday’s much anticipated annual general meeting.
“The board welcomes these new directors to the board and will work constructively with them in the best of interests of shareholders,” she said. McKenzie, who is also up for re-election, said she was “excited” about AGL’s future including the decarbonisation of the company as its moves to close down its three remaining coal-fired power stations.
