Cricket legend Shane Warne and tennis star Ash Barty have been recognised on the 2022 Queens Birthday Honours list along with health officials who helped navigate the nation through the pandemic.

There were 992 Australians recognised by the list, including 669 in the General Division of the Order of Australia, and awards for “meritorious, distinguished and conspicuous service”.

The Spin King’s father accepted the award saying it “recognised that Shane was much more than an incredible cricketer”.

The former young Australian of the year and three-time Grand Slam champion was named as an officer to the Order of Australia.
