An Australian has stepped down from major bank NatWest after the handling of Nigel Farage’s account had 'fallen below the bank's high standards of personal service'.
Adelaide-born Peter Flavel, CEO of NatWest’s private bank Coutts, stepped down on Thursday just more than a day after NatWest boss Dame Alison Rose resigned after admitting to discussing the banking information of Mr Farage with a BBC journalist.
Mr Flavel said he was “exceptionally proud” of his first seven years at Coutts and thanked “the team that have built it into such a high performing business.” Mr Farage has claimed his bank account with Coutts – a prestigious bank with a reputation for serving rich and famous people – was closed due to his political views.
