The US-China trade war has been dominating headlines, but Beijing is not the only trading partner in President Donald Trump's crosshairs.

Investors were betting that Washington and Beijing would sign a"phase one" deal before December 15, when the next round of US tariffs were due to be imposed on Chinese goods. ASX futures were down 62 points or 0.9 per cent by 7:25am , indicating a sharp fall in early trade for the local market. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq indices fell by about 0.6 per cent each.
