‘I absolutely apologise’: Zali Steggall addresses ‘rookie’ accounting error |
Federal independent MP Zali Steggall has apologised for what she says was a “rookie” accounting error.
“It was a rookie error. But it does highlight, I think, the difficulty of challenging incumbents ... the system is so complex and so difficult from an administrative point of view. It is so rigged against independents, so individuals, compared to the party machines. Challenged on whether she had met her own standards for integrity and transparency, Ms Steggall said her team had corrected the record at the Australian Electoral Commission as soon as necessary to report the donation.Alex Ellinghausen
