A widespread heatwave is expected to grip Australia over the weekend, with temperatures soaring to nearly 50C in some areas, particularly Central Australia. The south and southeast, including parts of South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania, will also experience significant warming. Forecasts predict temperatures approaching 45C in several states, driven by the absence of monsoonal cloud and rain. Melbourne, Adelaide, and Hobart are forecasted to reach 35C, 33C, and 29C respectively. While the east coast from central Queensland to central NSW, including Sydney and Brisbane, is expected to avoid the most extreme temperatures, the heatwave is set to impact a large portion of the country.
Aussies across the country are set to swelter heading into the weekend, with temperatures set to soar to nearly 50C in some parts of the country. Although those extreme temperatures will be hitting Central Australia, much of the south and southeast, including parts of South Australia, Victoria, and Tasmania, is expected to heat up.
