Moloney twins will fight for world titles on consecutive weekends, with Jason to face Vincent Astrolabio for the WBO bantamweight belt on Sunday
Jason faces Vincent Astrolabio for bantamweight belt todayAustralian bruise brothers Jason and Andrew Moloney are hunting history this week as they aim to become the first Australian twins to claim world boxing titles.
“This is it, it’s make or break,” Jason told AAP ahead of his crack at the vacant WBO bantamweight belt. “I know there’s a lot riding on it, but I’m experienced enough to stay focused and the pressure won’t get to me at all.”A win for Jason will pile the pressure on twin Andrew’s world title fight in Las Vegas next week, on a card headlined by Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko.
“These guys already do massive numbers in the US; they have big profiles here but there’d be nothing bigger,” their manager Tony Tolj said. “The first Aussie brothers to have titles at the same time ... they could fill a stadium.” “Fighting overseas, you get a bit forgotten about, we’re not in the media as much as other Australian boxers,” Jason said. “This is the start of what we want to create, a big following. Once we bring these two belts home it goes to a whole other level.”Photograph: Mikey Williams/Top Rank Inc/Top Rank/Getty Images

Australian people expect Labor to get maximum value: ChalmersTreasurer Jim Chalmers says the Australian people “expect” the Labor government to get the maximum value of money after the announcement of the 2023 federal budget put some infrastructure projects in review. “What we’re talking about with this short sharp review of infrastructure projects is making sure that we’re getting maximum value for money and that we are recognising the changing costs of projects which come from material shortages … and other pressures,” Mr Chalmers said during a media conference on Friday. “I think the Australian people and the people of Queensland expect us to try and get maximum value for money from our $120 billion ten-year infrastructure pipeline. “It’s not unusual for governments of either political persuasion to push projects back or forward to try and get value for money and to recognise the pressures on building and construction right now. “That's simply what we are doing.”
