Four Australian rowing crews won their heats in a big morning on the water, with only the men’s and women’s eights trailing their fields | mickgleeson
Four Australian rowing crews won their heats in a big morning on the water in Japan on Saturday, with only the men’s and women’s eights trailing their fields.
“It’s really tough. I wouldn’t want to do it. To double up is very hard, I have never done it so I don’t know, but racing a regatta is hard in one boat so twice as much work is very hard,” said Sam Hardy, who won his men’s pair heat with Josh Hicks. Of course they won their heat and in the best time of 6:32.41, which was 10 seconds better than the time in which Hardy and Hicks won their heat.
But they had to allow for rust as no Australians raced internationally last year, with the world championships cancelled.
