Kylie Minogue has declined an offer to perform at the King’s coronation in yet another blow for the beleaguered royal’s crowning bash.
The Spinning Around singer was in protracted negotiations with the monarch’s team to make an appearance at the event on May 7 at Windsor Castle.
Minogue – who lays claim to the envious title of being the highest-selling female Australian artist in history – confirmed the news via a spokesperson this week. “But she is also a passionate Australian and has read the room in a country that could very soon become a republic.” “The occasions I had the honour of being in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II, her energy, compassion and aura had a most singular brilliance. I was, and am, in awe. My deepest condolences to family and friends. Rest in Peace,” she wrote.
British superstars such as Elton John, the Spice Girls, Adele, Harry Styles, Robbie Williams and Ed Sheeran have all declined offers to perform at Windsor Castle.The series of high-profile rejections is said to be thanks to the recent PR disasters experienced by the Royal Family and Charles’ personal unpopularity amongst the public.
