Three-time Australian Olympic equestrian rider Shane Rose is recovering in hospital after suffering a fall during a cross country schooling session. He has breaks and fractures in his legs, hips, and ribs, as well as a concussion. Rose had recently confirmed his Paris 2024 Olympics qualifications.

Three-time Australian Olympic equestrian rider Shane Rose is recovering in hospital after suffering a fall during a cross country schooling session on Thursday. The 50-year-old had only confirmed his Paris 2024 Olympic s qualifications just days prior, but is now in an intensive care unit with breaks and fractures in his legs, hips and ribs, while also having suffered a concussion from the fall.

An update on Rose’s health was posted to his Facebook and Instagram accounts on his behalf on Friday afternoon. “As the saying goes peacock one day, feather duster the next!” Shane Rose Eventing wrote. “After a fantastic week in New Zealand Shane and Virgil (his horse) secured their Olympic qualifications, this week Shane was bought back down to earth — literally. “During a cross country schooling session yesterday Shane suffered a nasty fall. Thankfully, his horse was not injured in the fall. “Shane is currently in ICU with a badly broken femur and a fractured pelvis and ribs. He also suffered a heavy concussion. “Shane had surgery this morning to stabilise the femur and pelvi
