ANALYSIS: Australians with disability are rarely given opportunities to lead. Advocates say there's a 'golden opportunity' ahead

Mr Fairbairn said. However, for Mr Fairbairn, he preferred playing the saxophone over playing sport.
Just like non-disabled people, people with disability have knowledge, skills and talent that shoots out in all directions. With the National Disability Insurance Scheme now a decade old — and the roles of both National Disability Insurance Agency chief executive and chair now up for grabs — disability advocates have recognised a "golden opportunity": to finally have a person with disability running the NDIS.
And, after only three months, Denis Napthine, the former Victorian Premier, has also stepped down as the chair of the NDIA board. The duo had many critics, including the then-opposition minister for the NDIS, Bill Shorten.
