Premier Mark McGowan has announced a pay rise for public sector workers across Western Australia to combat rising inflation.

More than 150,000 workers – including teachers, nurses, police officers and public servants – will receive increased pay for the next two years, and a one-off payment of $2,500.

Offer ends 31 October, 2022.“It offers the most for the workers that earn the least - so for a patient care assistant that earns just over $55,000 a year, together with the $2,500 payment, this offer is an effective rise of 7.5 per cent in the first year.”

“With this new wages policy, we want to strike the right balance, properly compensating our dedicated public service through a temporary period of higher inflation, while continuing to deliver the strong financial management we promised. Under the special deal struck by then-treasurer Scott Morrison in 2018, Western Australia receives the highest share of GST revenue, with at least 70 cents for every dollar it contributes.
