Plans to ditch outdated RSL and club rules in New South Wales, where patrons living within 5km of the venue require a membership have been announced by the state government.
Under current law, NSW residents living within 5km of their local club must sign up as a member and typically pay a membership fee, demonstrate membership of a similar club elsewhere, or attend as the guest of an existing member.It should be much easier for NSW residents who just want a drink or meal at their local club under new reforms launched by the state government.
Removing the rule is also expected to encourage more local people to enjoy their nearby clubs before choosing whether or not to become a member.
