Bali's tourism sector is facing the loss of 100,000 Chinese tourists per month because of Indonesia's travel ban, while anxiety is increasing among Australian travellers about potential undetected cases.

"There are moves through our foreign affairs relationships to work with Indonesia," Professor Murphy told the ABC when asked what assistance Australia was providing.

"We will obviously work very closely with Indonesian health authorities on their requirements," Senator Payne said. Professor Kelly said the Indonesian health officials had "confirmed that they do have testing available, both in their reference laboratory in Jakarta and also in regional laboratories, including Surabaya".Tourists arrive at Denpasar airport in Bali.Indonesian health authorities said on Tuesday they tested 64 people for coronavirus and 62 results had come back negative. The last two tests were still being processed.

"I am worried about the virus of course, but without the tourists we would be dead too in a way. I wish they could still come, maybe if we screen them better they can still come. If we use the proper protection."
