The City of Sydney's Lord Mayor Clover Moore has thrown her support behind an investigation into banning gas from all new builds in the city’s council area, despite significant opposition.
The City of Sydney council passed a motion that vows to fully investigate a ban on gas from all new homes and businesses, with eight out of 10 councillors in support on the vote on Monday night.
Waverley in Sydney’s east and Canterbury-Bankstown in the southwest have overruled him with their own rules requiring new buildings to have electric appliances only.
