“Members of the public are urged to avoid the area. No further information is available at this stage. “An investigation into the cause of the crash will be undertaken by the Australian Transport Safety Bureau .” Footage of the incident appeared to show plane wreckage in a forested area on the edge of cleared land.
The Oaks Rural Fire Brigade posted on Facebook just after 12.10pm that “multiple crews are currently converging to Wanawong Rd Belimbla Park for a reported aircraft incident”.Locals also reported on social media that they had seen planes in the area that morning, or heard the sound of engine failure.
