restaurant and bar One Penny Red has announced it is shutting up shop and will be pouring its last glass in coming months.
Co-founders Nina Alidenes, RJ Lines and David Murphy said the landlord, who was a dear friend, had decided to put the building on the market in early 2024, and they had decided not to renew the lease and call time on One Penny Red and Vernon’s Bar.The trio on Thursday said it had been “an honour and a privilege to join our guests in creating wonderful memories within these walls” and thanked the Summer Hill community for its support.
“Over nearly 10 years, OPR and Vernon’s have been the sites of weddings, birthdays, memorials and reunions,” she said.“It has been the highlight of my professional career to steer the OPR and Vernon’s team. Murphy said the venue created a local food culture that is now thriving and “provided me lifelong friendships along the way”.
