There will be prizes for the best scarecrow so make sure that you vote for your favourite one
Originally launched more than 15 years ago, the two-day Helmshore event, organised by Sue Clark, is now in its sixth year following its revival and last year showcased more than 80 scarecrows. Helmshore’s scarecrow trail will take place over the weekend of Saturday, October 28 and Sunday, October 29.
This year the funds will go to East Lancashire Down’s Syndrome Support Group. Maps will be available to purchase from Neary’s General Store and a stall outside. Maps will be £3 each. Raffle tickets will also be on sale with lots of prizes donated by local businesses and the community.If you want to get involved and build a scarecrow, get your registration form From Neary’s General Store Helmshore or contact the Helmshore scarecrow trail. Applications are needed by October 22.
Schools and businesses are welcome to donate prizes to support the trail. Families are encouraged to build their own scarecrow and display it over the weekend. A goal has been set to have 100 Scarecrows around the village or on the green outside Pearson’s.
