Ben Fordham holds top breakfast position in Sydney radio ratings | michael_lallo broedecarmody

Ben Fordham, who replaced 2GB host Alan Jones in June, has maintained the station’s dominance in Sydney’s competitive breakfast radio slot.

Normally, GFK releases eight surveys each year but in April the company suspended the third, fourth and fifth surveys due to the COVID-19 pandemic. GFK resumed its data collection on July 26 via a mix of paper diaries and e-diaries - except in Melbourne, where results were collected solely through e-diaries due to stage 4 lockdown restrictions.

Industry executives have also pointed out that with millions of Australians now working from home, there may be more volatility in listening habits - especially in the breakfast and drive slots, which rely on audiences who tune in while driving to and from work.Earlier this year, Jones announced his retirement after a long and controversial career dominating Sydney’s breakfast airwaves. The conservative broadcaster officially hung up his headphones in May after 35 years on air.
