'He developed a fever and wanted to be checked out. He is awake and alert,” the source close to Clinton said. Clinton has had a marked medical history since leaving the Oval Office in 2001, most recently landing in hospital in California in 2021 after contracting a urinary tract infection which spread to his bloodstream. A few years after leaving office, in 2004, Clinton underwent a quadruple heart bypass surgery at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University. In 2010 he was admitted to hospital again for another heart procedure involving the insertion of two stents into his coronary artery. During Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign trail, Clinton suggested at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago he may not have the chance to speak to his party’s delegates for many more years. “I want to say this from the bottom of my heart, I have no idea how many more of these I’ll be able to come to,” he said
