AMA president Tony Bartone says people who attended anti-racism protests across Australia over the weekend should immediately get tested if they display even the mildest symptoms of cold or flu.

Australian Medical Association president Tony Bartone has urged people who attended Black Lives Matter demonstrations around Australia over the weekend to consider self-isolating to limit the risk of spreading coronavirus.

In a Facebook post this morning, the group told its followers they should not visit elderly people during this period, and should speak to a doctor if they developed any symptoms.Health officials advised protesters not to attend for fear of sparking a second wave of COVID-19 infections. "Mass gatherings are certainly the last gatherings on the list [of restrictions] and it was clearly against the advice of all the health authorities," he said.
