Only three years after hitting rock bottom, the Brisbane Broncos are again chasing rugby league’s biggest prize.
With a nudge from his wife Heather, NRL board member Peter Beattie will be all-in with the Brisbane Broncos when they square off against Penrith in the NRL grand final on Sunday.
But Beattie says his admiration for Broncos coach Kevin Walters also helped him over the line. “Kevvy is a really good bloke. And I’m so happy for him.”, the CEO and managing director of Ord Minnett, says Walters “bleeds” the Broncos. He won six premierships as a player – five with the Broncos – and been an assistant coach. Walters also has his own blood playing for the team: his son Billy is the team’s hooker.
“This is what it’s all about - winning grand finals”: Ord Minnett chief executive - and Broncos chairman - Karl Morris.“When you go to the bottom there’s hopefully only one way to go – and you don’t want to be stuck there for long.”
