A NSW parliamentary inquiry is told by a Blue Mountains campaigner that state government agencies worked together to deprive the public of information about PFAS contamination.

Greens MLC Cate Faehrmann is chairing the inquiry into PFAS contamination in waterways and drinking water in NSW.A member of a Blue Mountains action group has accused NSW government agencies of working together to deprive the public of information about PFAS contamination.

He told the hearing in Katoomba about contamination in the area's drinking water supply and the community's struggle to get information from the state government. "Flagging this interview with Jon Dee went to air on ABC on Saturday which was highly critical of Sydney Water and the minister for, quote, 'not being available to go on air and answer questions over PFAS'.

"ABC contacted all relevant agencies including the minister's office, Sydney Water and Water NSW for an interview."This decision was measured and considered and reflects our collective approach to the situation … while we understand your concern it is more appropriate to let us work out the best approaches moving forward.

"Weekly PFAS results have been published on the Sydney Water website to make this information accessible for all."
