, former Disney chairman and chief executive Bob Iger has some career advice for workers: be patient.on Tuesday morning, Mr Iger – who spent 47 years working at the company until he retired – urged workers not to rush into new roles.“I didn’t stay at one company because I was impatient. I stayed at one company because I was patient. What I mean by that is so much in your career is out of your control,” Mr Iger said.
About 1.3 million, or 9.5 per cent, of workers changed jobs in the year to February, according to ABS figures, which was about 30 per cent higher than the year prior.Mr Iger, who led Disney’s push into streaming services, also shared advice that he gave his 23-year-old son when he complained about his workload in his first job out of university.
“There are often times when you are working with people that have equal skills, but you can out-work them to your advantage.Lean into work – I know that sounds odds in today’s environment, with people choosing not to work, basically because COVID made them a little too comfortable at home.”buying a stakeHe said he looked for guts and a clear vision in the founders he invested in, adding that he was “impressed beyond words” about what Canva has built.
Reflecting on his friendship with the late Steve Jobs, Mr Iger praised the Apple founder’s “relentless pursuit of perfection”.
