Police say the bodies of two men who died when a light aircraft crashed off the Coffs Harbour coast have been recovered. The plane departed a private airfield at Coffs Harbour at around 3:30pm yesterday, crashing a short time later. Emergency services were called to Nambucca Heads on the Coffs Harbour coast just after 4pm Saturday afternoon. Two people died at the scene, with the body of a man recovered from the plane yesterday, according to a statement from NSW Police.
Emergency services have recovered parts of the plane. An operation to recover the aircraft from Scotts Head Beach is now underway, with the plane wreckage sighted more than a kilometre offshore yesterday. The investigation into the crash is being conducted by NSW Police's Marine Area Command, who have confirmed the plane left a private airfield at Coffs Harbour around 3:30pm yesterday
