A body has been found in the search for missing teenager Luca Bennett. The 15-year-old was playing with two other friends on rocks at North Avoca Beach when they were hit by a wave and swept into the water just before 3pm on Tuesday. His friends managed to make it back to shore and alert lifeguards. A multi-agency search and rescue operation was launched, scouring the coastline for the missing teenager. On Thursday morning, it was scaled back to a recovery operation.
“Everyone is doing the best they can to search for him and bring him home to us ... we are so grateful. “He was the most perfect son and we can’t believe it’s real. “When we have him home we will release details of funeral etc.” In other tributes on social media, a friend wrote: “Man I just saw you last week, it breaks my heart so much, 2025 was gonna be big”. “Had I known last week would be the last time I see you I would’ve embraced you. “My brother, I will see you again.

Second body found in Botany creek, police suspect double murderNSW Police have discovered a second body in Botany, just eight days after a jogger found a woman’s body wrapped in plastic. The first body was identified as 33-year-old Zhuojun 'Sally' Li, and police were searching for her husband, Jai-Bao 'Rex' Chen, aged 33. Homicide detectives investigating the disappearance of both Ms Li and her husband discovered the second body submerged in a creek in Botany. Police believe the second body is likely that of Rex Chen, and are treating the incident as a likely double murder.
