A teenage boy accused of arson after a fire at a derelict building in Stockport will stand trial next year.
The 14-year-old, who cannot be identified due to his age, is charged with arson with recklessness as to whether life was endangered following the blaze at the former Woodman pub on the A6 London Road in Hazel Grove on July 26 last year. The fire service said at the time that three children were rescued from the 'two-storey derelict commercial building' and were 'conveyed to hospital by paramedics.'The teenager is charged with committing arson 'intending to destroy or damage property or being reckless as to whether property would be destroyed or damaged and being reckless as to whether the life of another would be thereby endangered.
The boy pleaded not guilty to the charge at an earlier hearing. He today , accompanied by his mother, appeared at the Youth Court at Stockport Magistrates Court where a trial date was fixed. He will now stand trial over two days in June next year.
