Professor Brett Sutton delivered a parting message to Victorians on his last day as the state's chief health officer, before handing over the baton to his successor.
The Department of Health announced on Prof Sutton's last day on Friday that he would be succeeded in the key role by the"highly regarded" Dr Clare Looker.
The account has now been taken over by Dr Looker, who made an introductory post on Saturday as she settled into her 12-month term as chief health officer. Picture: Jake Nowakowski— Chief Health Officer, Victoria Dr Looker has been with the health department for seven years and was most recently the deputy chief health officer, a role she was appointed to during the pandemic.
"She is highly regarded in the field and has a strong background in public health medicine, particularly in communicable diseases, environmental health and epidemiology," the health department said.
