Homeless man Bane Dancey said this was another kick in the guts for those already sleeping rough in Brisbane."We need it to survive. You can't just cut power to every homeless park we live in. It's unfair."Cr Schrinner said he would not tolerate anti-social behaviour in Brisbane's parks."Safety is not a complicated issue; we shouldn't tolerate this kind of anti-social behaviour and violence in our parks.
"It's very frustrating with the state and federal government squabbling, when it's actually them that are primarily responsible for causing the shortage of social housing and crisis accommodation," Cr Schrinner said.Cr Schrinner said the anti-social behaviour also included vandalism and littering. The former homeless woman said she was disappointed by the lack of compassion being shown towards the city's rough sleepers."We are all one. Nobody should be above anyone or below anyone. It's a human right to at least have a bit of dignity.Margarita Aunei-Stowers used to cook for homeless people at Kurilpa Point Park using the council's barbecues.
