The Queensland government is searching for a new fire commissioner to take charge ahead of the predicted dry summer.
After almost four years in the role, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner Greg Leach will leave the role at the end of October. “Many of you would have heard me talk about Queensland being the most disaster-prone state in Australia,” Leach told the organisation in a statement.“Through a global pandemic, catastrophic fires, floods and storms, through disasters both natural and human-created, together we have endured the toughest of times.”
