A company owned by one of Brisbane’s most prominent chefs has been placed into voluntary liquidation, with cafes including King Street Bakery closing their doors.McGrathNicol Restructuring has confirmed partners Mark Holland, Jamie Harris and Anthony Connelly were appointed liquidators of the BCN Events Group on May 28.BCN Events Group, is owned by chef Shannon Kellam, who also owns French dining institution Montrachet in Bowen Hills.However, Montrachet remains open and operating as usual.
The company operates several hospitality businesses, including the Lumiere Culinary Studio in Newstead, Mica Brasserie in Newstead and the CBD, King Street Bakery in Bowen Hills and a commercial production kitchen in Brisbane.“At this preliminary stage, BCN Events appears to be a casualty of the headwinds facing the hospitality industry,” Holland said.
